Working with international students: group and project-based activities on engineering degree programmes

This presentation was delivered at the joint HEA/UKCISA Internationalisation of Pedagogy and Curriculum in Higher Education Conference that took place at the University of Warwick on 16th and 17th June 2011.

The Engineering Subject Centre as part of its activities in internationalisation under the TIS Project has produced a Teaching Guide “Working with International Students” run a national workshop on the subject and most recently undertaken a focussed research project that investigates group- and project-based working with international students.

The aim of this workshop is to enable participants to explore the Centre's work in this by looking at examples of practice from UK HEIs that have been identified to have significant numbers of international students who are engaged in group- and project-based working. The examples will be taken from across all sectors of HE taught provision in engineering to include both undergraduate and postgraduate (taught) student groups.
