20 Dec 2019 | Advance HE A Professor and Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at University College Cork (UCC) has become our fifth Principal Fellow in the Republic of Ireland.

Prof Chris Lynch of the Cork Dental School and Hospital is also Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Dentistry, the leading international dental journal in the field of Restorative Dentistry and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Prior to appointment at UCC, Chris was Professor in Restorative Dentistry and Dental Education / Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Cardiff University.

Prof Lynch said: “I am honoured to become a Principal Fellow. I consider this award to be a significant recognition and will use it to further promote the agenda for creating an environment for excellence in education.

“I have the privilege of working with colleagues at University College Cork, Cardiff University and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, as well as colleagues in the UK, international colleagues in the Gulf Region such as Bahrain and Qatar, and further afield in Hong Kong. This recognition draws together strengths from achievements in each of these areas.

“I have been fortunate to have had inspiring teachers and I would like to dedicate my award to these mentors as well as my students.”

We send Chris our wholehearted congratulations. Principal Fellowship is a great achievement and recognises his commitment and contribution to student learning, as well as the positive influence he has with his colleagues as a strategic leader in teaching.

“There more than 124,000 Fellows across the globe, and Chris joins a small but very prestigious group of just over 1,000 who have attained Principal Fellowship. I think these numbers illustrate Chris’s achievement very clearly!”
