Protecting the transparency, reliability, and fairness of degree classifications

Advance HE welcomes the review published by Universities UK and GuildHE, on behalf of the UK Standing Committee for Quality Assessment, of progress made by UK higher education providers to protect the value of their qualifications. 

The review  points to the role played by the Degree Standards Project, managed by Advance HE, in developing and delivering sector-owned staff development provision for external examiners.

Over 2,400 external examiners have been trained and 52 providers have ‘adopted’ the course and are rolling the training to their own staff. As the report reveals, 87% of the providers involved have or intend to make changes to their external examining processes as a result.’
