"Provocative, engaging and fun"

03 Dec 2020 | Advance HE The next cohort of the Research Team Leadership programme starts in January 2021, with a new focus on leadership in changing times. Facilitator David Faraday spoke to us to discuss whys and wherefores of the newly online programme.

Effective leadership is critical to the success of any team. For those new to a research team leadership role, developing the necessary practical skills combined with the requirements of meeting research delivery objectives can be particularly challenging. With this in mind, the Research Team Leadership programme will look to develop the skills of research team leaders with particular reference to supporting research leaders and their teams in these changing times.

To find out how the programme has been adapted to be delivered online and what participants will gain from the programme, we spoke to programme facilitator David Faraday who told us the 'highly interactive programme' allows team leaders the 'opportunity to observe teams in action and engage in problem solving' activities.

He also says the programme has been designed to be 'provocative, engaging and fun' while creating a 'motivating and safe environment for people to reflect'. After completing the two-day online course participants will 'understand better how they can get more out of their research teams' and 'build their confidence in leading others'.

Watch what David has to say about the programme and how it has been adapted for online delivery below:
