Strategic Advisory Groups fully appointed

30 Sep 2021 | Advance HE Advance HE announces the full complement of Strategic Advisory Groups (SAGs) to help to inform its activity in support of member and sector needs

Advance HE is pleased to announce that the recruitment of experts to its Strategic Advisory Groups (SAGs) has now been completed following a superb response to its sector call for volunteers over the summer.

The purpose of the SAGs is to “actively engage members in shaping the activity and future direction of the organisation to ensure that Advance HE meets member and sector needs.”

There are five SAGs advising Advance HE in the areas of:

  • Leadership and Management
  • Teaching and Learning
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Global Perspectives
  • Governance.

Alison Johns, Advance HE Chief Executive, said, “I am delighted at the response to our call for experts to join the five SAGs and I’m very grateful to all colleagues who put their names forward.

“From the outset, Advance HE has been determined to adopt a consultative approach with the sector and our members. The SAGs will have a key role in reviewing and shaping Advance HE’s priorities and in identifying current and emerging strategic issues, challenges and opportunities which will help to inform and guide our work. The insights from the SAGs will complement the rich and ongoing engagement that we regularly and routinely conduct direct with our members and others in the sector.

“A key consideration in appointing the SAGs has been to reflect the diversity of Advance HE members – their contexts and perspectives – so that we work to all their needs, and I am confident that thorough these appointments we have achieved this.”
