Tab Betts FHEA is a Lecturer in Higher Education Pedagogy at the University of Sussex and a Senior Learning Technology Consultant. He is the International CPD Lead for the School of Education and Social Work, course leader for Fundamentals of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, a course leader for the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education and a course leader for the MA in Education at the University of Sussex.

From 2018-2020, he served as Director of Online Learning and Pedagogical Innovation for the Parliamentary Centre of Asia to produce a suite of online courses for parliaments across Southeast Asia. He is co-founder of the Active Learning Network, a global community for revolutionising learning, with satellite groups in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Greece, Romania, Singapore, Cambodia, Nigeria and China. Along with his colleagues, he was awarded the Finalist with Distinction Award in the 2021 Global Academic Development Good Practice Awards for the impact that this network has had in transforming global approaches to pedagogy.

He has been building international collaborations and developing inclusive learning in higher education for more than 15 years. He has won eight awards for his pedagogic collaborations and innovations, including the University of Sussex Award for Outstanding or Innovative Teaching (2018, 2018, 2017), the University of Brighton Most Innovative Teaching Award (2016) and the INTO University Partnerships Platinum and Silver Shine Awards (2020-2021) and the CFA Institute Spotlight Award (2023) for his consultancy. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, has run an academic department at a Chinese university and has delivered training and consultancy to clients in the UK, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Spain, Sweden and Nigeria.
