Maria Macleod is a solicitor at JustRight Scotland (JRS), Scotland’s law centre for justice and human rights. She completed her traineeship with JRS, supported by The Legal Education Foundation through the Justice First Fellowship scheme for aspiring social justice lawyers. As part of her Justice First Fellowship, she has been developing a project to improve access to justice for women experiencing gender-based violence in remote and rural communities across Scotland. Prior to joining JRS, Maria gained experience working in civil society organisations promoting access to justice in Scotland. 

Maria works in the Scottish Women’s Rights Centre (SWRC) on their Sexual Harassment Legal Service, funded by TIME’S UP UK the Justice and Equality Fund, managed by Rosa.  She provides free legal information, advice and representation to women affected by violence and abuse. In particular, she specialises in working with women who have experienced sexual harassment - in the workplace, online, and in further and higher education. As part of her role, she contributes to policy, training and research work to improve justice outcomes for women experiencing sexual harassment.
