Ronnie Millar

As Director of Counselling Services at the University of Edinburgh, Ronnie Millar leads a large multi-disciplinary team providing counselling and psychological support for students and staff of the University, and manages the University’s Sexual Violence and Harassment Liaison officer. He developed the University’s training programme on student mental health for academics and pastoral support staff and has collaborated with the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust in developing a range of online and interactive information and training options for University staff.

Ronnie has been actively involved in the work of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) having served on the Expert Reference Group for the Competency Framework for Counsellors in HE and FE. He was on the Executive of the Heads of University Counselling Services group (HUCS) from 2014-2020, and was Chair of HUCS Scotland from 2017-2020, and is a member of the Scottish Government’s Working Group on Student Mental Health.

Ronnie is also a member of the Association of University and College Counseling Center Directors (AUCCCD) and co-presented at the AUCCCD international conferences in 2018 and 2020.
