He was the last Education Officer at the University of Manchester Students’ Union, and he is a former Governor of the University of Manchester. He is a Student Reviewer for the Quality Assurance Agency and a member of the Advance HE Governance Strategic Advisory Group. His current interests are the role of students in governance and assurance processes, as well as the perception of their importance by the sector at large and student populations.
He believes Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion are the key to ensuring the Higher Education sector can advance, and has a special interest in the way policies in this area recognise and include international students. As a biosciences student, he competed in the International Genetically Engineered Machine contest with the 2020 Manchester Team, winning a Gold Medal, and has recently started working in Professor Robert Bristow’s laboratory of Translational Oncogenomics, researching prostate cancer.
