Will Foster

Will Foster oversees all aspects of Advance HE’s Global Professional Recognition portfolio having previously been a member of Advance HE’s Leadership and Management Strategic Advisory Group and an Athena Swan Chair. He holds a PhD (King’s College London) in Ecclesiology, Leadership and Culture, an MBA (sponsored by Rolls-Royce), an Honours degree in Engineering and is a Principal Fellow (PFHEA).

Assistant Director – Professional Recognition

Will joined Advance HE from Keele University in 2022 having held a variety of senior academic roles in different universities during including: Professor of Leadership; Provost / Executive Dean; Deputy & Associate Dean; Head of various Schools; Director of MBA and Executive Programmes and co-editor of the Journal of Academic Development and Education (JADE). In each of these positions he played a pioneering leadership role in cultivating new approaches, innovating academic developments and transforming practice.  

His success in Higher Education built on the foundations of a successful leadership and consultancy career in the commercial sector combined with his experience serving as Director and Trustee on charitable Boards and church where he has contributed in the areas of leadership, culture, strategy, business development, change, systems, HR and operations.  

Will is passionate about helping individuals, teams and organisations realise their full potential and is a strong advocate of building leadership capability and healthy organisational culture which is inclusive and diverse. In addition to his current role at Advance HE, Will is a member of the British Academy of Management’s Special Interest Group in Leadership, has acted as Principal Strategy and Leadership Consultant to several Private Higher Education Institutes and External Advisor to a variety of Universities, is a member of the Advisory Board for the Trusted Executive Foundation and part of the Executive Leadership Team for the European Pentecostal Theological Association (EPTA) in his capacity as Secretary to the association.
