Innovation in Teaching Practice Workshops

During 2019-20 we will be running a series of one-day workshops covering a range of topics relevant to teaching and learning in HE, responding to increasing pressures on institutions from policies such as the subject level TEF in England, or challenges such as the mental wellbeing of both staff teams and students.

COVID-19 update

In light of the current global COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak the delivery date and format of Innovation in Teaching Practice Workshops has been affected, see below for more information. See our COVID-19 updates page for the latest information on our services.

With teaching excellence still a major focus of the HE sector, and increasing pressures across institutions to respond to policies such as the subject level TEF in England and challenges such as the mental wellbeing of both staff teams and students our workshops provide practical guidance on improving your teaching practices working alongside peers from a range of institutions and disciplines. These workshops have been created to provide practical support in an interactive way to assist you with implementing policy and new innovative teaching practice developments at module, programme, departmental or faculty level. They will assist you in leading change and monitoring impact, as well as guiding you to recognise your contribution to both your teams and the wider institution.

Who: those who support or are directly involved in teaching across a range of career levels

Workshop Structure

Each workshop will be led by a Principal or Senior Advisor in the Advance HE Knowledge, Innovation and Delivery team and, for some workshops, delivery will be in partnership with an Associate of Advance HE. The format of the day will provide an interactive forum for learning, sharing practice and overcoming barriers to excellent teaching. Open for all, these workshops will be held in York, London, Manchester, Birmingham and Cardiff and each of the workshops are also available for delivery in-house at your institution should you have a number of individuals who wish to attend.

Benefits

These workshops have been designed to equip participants to lead change and monitor impact, as well as providing insights beneficial to help you recognise your contribution to your team and the wider institution. Each workshop will focus on a different area of teaching and learning practice and will develop your skills through the use of practical tools and tips. The workshops provide practical support to introduce new innovative teaching practice developments and to assist you with implementing policy at module, programme, departmental or faculty level.
