Small Development Projects

Open to member institutions only, our Small Development Projects address a particular gap in knowledge or practice, providing value to our members and the HE sector as a whole.

We commission and publish work that supports the development of leadership, equality, diversity and inclusion, teaching and learning, and governance to support higher education shape its future. Our Small Development Project scheme provides a neutral and independent space for our members to share outcomes from their research or practice and provides a platform to advance knowledge and understanding for the benefit of the sector. We are particularly looking for activity which might not otherwise attract full funding support within a university or higher education college.

Overview

Our Small Development Project scheme is a key benefit for Advance HE members and was first launched in 2004. We have invested in hundreds of projects since then with a focus on a range of leadership, management, governance, and equality, diversity and inclusion issues. We provide case studies, toolkits, resources and development opportunities of benefit to our members, partner organisations and the sector as a whole.

Each project produces an accessible output that describes aims, activities, findings, resources/ tools, and recommendations so that the learning from the project stimulates thinking on wider application in the sector.

Our Small Development Project scheme has been running for a number of years, supporting our member institutions in developing new research, testing ideas and sharing knowledge to benefit the HE sector."
