HEA review of research literature: Employability

This review forms one of a suite of four literature reviews commissioned by the HEA in 2015-16 to inform the sector of recent work in this area.

The review will comprise a rapid evidence assessment of the large body of publications on employability in higher education and will result in both a research report and searchable database of titles. The HEA Employability Framework will be used as a device to structure the review and the research report; it is hoped this will make the findings accessible to institutions using the Framework to embed employability initiatives.

The overall aim of the review is to support the HEA to maintain an up-to-date evidence base and to better understand the practices and policies that have a demonstrable positive impact on student outcomes. Therefore the review will identify and summarise the trends issues and demonstrable impacts within the topic of Employability since 2012 paying particular attention to identifying what works (i.e. evidence-informed policy and practice) in terms of embedding employability into the higher education experience.

The research team at iCeGS has considerable experience of conducting reviews and impact evaluations and is being supported on this occasion by CRAC.  The project lead Jane Artess commented "We are delighted to be conducting this review and teasing out key publications to show what really impacts on students and graduates".
