Co-Director Centre for Management Education, Director of Learning & Teaching

Dr Christine Rivers is a challenger, pioneer, transformer, and thought leader in hybrid education and professional staff development in Management Education. Challenging the status quo for the benefit of supporting student learning (e.g. critical thinking skills development, enhancing student employability, and learning through visuals) is key to advance Learning and Teaching (LT) practice; however, such initiatives are only powerful if combined with capacity building opportunities for staff and students. Centre for Management Education (CME) has been her instrument to raise the excellence of the profession through pioneering LT qualifications, transformational coaching, and staff development approaches and thought leadership in hybrid education since 2016. Christine will continue to use CME as a platform for management educators to engage, connect, collaborate and advance the field theoretically and practically and offer development opportunities.

Continuously expanding, understanding, and creating new knowledge is one of the reasons she enjoys academia and the work she does around learning and teaching. As a curious person by nature, Christine finds there is always something new to discover. She is a Director for Learning and Teaching and Co-Director for Centre of Management Education (CME) at Surrey Business School (SBS), University of Surrey. Christine is also a Senior Fellow of Advance HE, Chartered Management and Business Educator and accredited Executive Coach.

Advance HE recognises there are different views and approaches to teaching and learning, as such we encourage sharing of practice, without advocating or prescribing specific approaches. NTF and CATE awards recognise teaching excellence in a particular context. The profiles featured are self-submitted by award winners.
