Lim Keong Teoh is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Taxation and Faculty Head of Learning and Teaching at the University of Winchester. He has won numerous teaching awards in recognition of his creative and innovative practices to enhance students’ learning. Prior to his academic career, Lim Keong worked for a Big Four accounting firm in auditing and business consultancy for six years.  

He began his career in higher education with Coventry University in 2005 as a Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance, and subsequently joined the University of Winchester in 2009. He has been teaching UK taxation for over 16 years. Despite the complexity of the subject, he has been able to stimulate students’ interest and engage them in learning throughout the course. With the use of digital technologies, he has transformed traditional approaches to delivery, assessment and feedback to be more interesting and effective in engaging students in various learning activities towards greater success.  

As well as using learning analytics to inform his teaching practice, Lim Keong has pioneered the practice of empowering students to reflect on their own learning analytics and establish action plans to change their behaviour to improve performance. He has successfully transformed students into responsible and independent learners by engaging them in ongoing self-reflection on learning. He is passionate about technology enhanced learning.  

His teaching innovations have been recognised in the wider academic community and professional bodies. He has secured numerous L&T grants, both internally and externally, for implementing various teaching interventions including computer-based assessment and feedback, multimedia presentation, gamification, data-driven teaching and interactive e-Learning, to transform student outcomes and experience. His work is widely disseminated at the national and international levels.  

Lim Keong is constantly seeking to improve his teaching practices further, inventing new solutions to address pedagogic issues in an era of disruptive change. Despite the challenges, he always remains highly positive and motivated to strive for teaching excellence. His professional development has no full stop, only commas.
