Nicki Credland

Nicki Credland is a Reader in Critical Care. She is Chair of the British Association of Critical Care Nurses and specialist advisor to NHS England and Health Education England. Nicki has a recognised national and international profile within the critical care community.

As a Reader in Critical Care Education and Head of Department Nicki Credland is a champion and academic leader for her discipline. She led the development and delivery of four undergraduate and 12 post graduate taught programmes and manages a team of 40 academic staff covering eight disciplines. 

She has significant experience in curriculum design and is a member of numerous national critical care and advanced practice working groups. Nicki holds a strategic role, shaping education both regionally and nationally.  

She is a national leader in critical care nursing and education and is the current Chair of the British Association of Critical Care Nurses (BACCN). Her role is to provide vision, direction, leadership and to develop strategy at national level, holding positions on the National Critical Care Leadership forum, National Critical Care Education Review Forum and UK Critical Care Nursing Alliance. Nicki is a specialist advisor to NHS England and Health Education England on critical care nursing. She is also the UK representative to the World Federation of Critical Care Nurses which involves liaising with the international clinical and academic community to improve, support and enhance the provision of critical care clinical practice and education.  

Nicki is involved in national and international curriculum development for critical care nursing and was appointed Director for Nurse Education at the NHS Nightingale Hospital Yorkshire and the Humber during the Covid-19 pandemic. She holds Principal Fellowship of Advance HE highlighting commitment to teaching, learning and the student experience that encourages research, reflection and development.
