Richard Wilding OBE started his career working in industry before “accidentally falling into academia”. He works with learners from European and international companies on logistics and supply chain projects in all sectors including pharmaceutical, retail, automotive, high technology, food, drink and professional services to name a few.

He is a champion for utilising blended learning approaches including online content to enable postgraduate learners and particularly managers and executives to learn, develop and embed change within their businesses to the benefit of the environment, the economy and society.

Richard is a change agent within the logistics, transport and supply chain profession and this has been recognised nationally through multiple awards, including an OBE in the 2013 New Years Honours list for services to business. He was also awarded in 2017 at the Logistics Talent Awards the “Lifetime contribution to training and development in logistics”. He received the "Logistics 100 Award 2017", this award singles out an individual in the list of the top 100 UK leaders in the logistics profession who has, in the previous year, created significant impact.

In terms of global impact he is recognised in many influencer lists including the “2019 Top 50 influencers in e-commerce and shipping” and was also listed in the “2018 Top 100 Corporate Modern Slavery Influencers Index” recognising individuals from all business sectors in raising awareness to end modern slavery and labour exploitation.

Richard’s special areas of academic interest include andragogy (the methods and principles used in adult education), the creation of collaborative business environments, reducing supply chain vulnerability and risk, supply chain 4.0 and digitisation, time compression and techniques for aligning supply chains to maximise customer value and reduce cost.
