Reframing Strategy in 'Polycrisis'
All institutions have defined missions and have in place strategic programmes to realise them, but the strategy and the mission may both be challenged by the sheer pressure of operational decisions. How to address the gap between strategic purpose and operational challenge? Where do strategies, and arrangements for realising them, need to be revised? Where do institutions need to transform, where do they need to adapt and where do they need to hold steady? This masterclass, lead by Professor Sir Chris Husbands, Director of Higher Futures and Vice-Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam University between January 2016 and December 2023, and Janice Kay CBE, Special Advisor to the VC University of Exeter and Director of Higher Futures, will explore these issues in intensely practical ways, providing opportunities to explore options and to help participants make good decisions, shape implementation and secure delivery.
