Following feedback from the sector and wider public, Advance HE has worked with its solicitors and sector stakeholders to review how the transformed Athena Swan framework aligns to members’ duties in relation to equality and freedom of speech. This review aimed to develop clearer approaches to sex and gender in the Charter, particularly in the guidance on data collection. Advance HE published an updated version of its data monitoring guidance earlier this year and has worked with the Athena Swan Governance Committee to amend the Charter principles and guidance in light of advice received. This briefing will explain the updates to the Charter and how they may impact members’ Athena Swan work. The event is for Athena Swan leads, their deputies or nominated delegates. An updated version of the Charter guidance will be published and circulated to Charter leads on the day of the event.
